Aussie Helpers in their Buy a Brekkie campaign, supporting selected rural Australian schools so children can start their school day with a nutritious breakfast. Through a rigorous process by Aussie Helpers to identify schools that need additional help, together we are ensuring that our commitment to families in rural and bush communities are supported, and their children and can start the day with a nutritious brekkie at school.
About the Brekkie in a Bag program
The Brekkie in a Bag program provides free, nutritious, high-protein meals to rural students, giving every child the opportunity to begin their day on a level playing field. A healthy start is essential for young minds, and this campaign helps ease both the financial and emotional pressures faced by many rural families.
In many farming communities, children are up before sunrise helping with chores like feeding animals before heading off to school, sometimes arriving with empty stomachs. Brekkie in a Bag helps reduce this inequity, supporting the families who feed the nation but may struggle to feed their own.
