Renewable Fuels Meet At Queensland Parliament
On Wednesday 21st August an important event took place in Queensland’s Parliament House, attracting a capacity attendance to hear speakers with intense understanding of the renewable fuels industry and the impacts, opportunities and effect, this will have in Australia, reaching across many hard to abate sectors such as marine, aviation, heavy haulage, construction, agriculture, rail, mining and manufacturing.
Over the past three months, Members of the Queensland Parliament have met with leading industry representatives, to discuss the need, demand, and role of renewable fuels across the economy. As outlined in Australia’s Bioenergy Roadmap, released by ARENA in 2021, by the start of the next decade, Australia’s bioenergy sector could contribute to:
- Around $10 billion to the GDP annually
- Create 26,200 new jobs, many arising in regional areas
- Reduce emissions by about 9%
- Divert an additional 6% of waste from landfill
- Enhance Australia’s fuel security.
The Alliances of these industry bodies, together with the Qld Government, are committed to the future of renewables and to the goal of decarbonising the future through sustainable, impactful policies that will stand up to, and develop a sustainable liquid fuels industry in Australia.
